Goalie Ben Scrivens made his first start for the Los Angeles Kings and made the most of it when these two teams last met up. He recorded his third career shutout with 20 saves and helped his team to a 3-0 win over the Florida Panthers. Scivens was acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs in June of 2013, and he has sitting this season behind one of the best goalies in the league, Jonathan Quick.

The Panthers came in to L.A losing four of their previous five games. Panthers goalie Jacob Markstrom had 26 saves, but with seemingly no offense the Panthers had no chance. With no one scoring in the first period, the second came around with Mike Richards coming out from around the net and passing the puck to Daniel Carcillo at the bottom of the right circle. Carcillo handled the puck and then slapped it towards Markstrom, who could not stop the slap shot. That goal put the Kings up 1-0, 8:46 into the second. With just about a minute left to go, Justin Williams found the back of the net after an interception while the Panthers were trying to clear it, and the puck bounced around before Anze Kopitar got a hold of it and assisted Williams. It was Kopitar's fifth assist in six games.

In the third it was more Kings as Jordan Nolan put the puck passed Markstrom at 12:28 of the third with a tip-in off a pass from Jarret Stoll. That goal put the Kings up by three and secured the game.
