The Florida Panthers, who are currently last in the NHL in scoring, will go on the road on Tuesday night to take on the Colorado Avalanche. These two teams tied their regular season series 1-1 last year.
The Panthers did well to send their game against the Washington Capitals into overtime with a late third period goal, but they ended up losing 2-1 in the shootout. Florida was 1-for-5 on the power play in that loss and they were only able to get 21 shots on goal.
The Panthers have struggled on offense so far this year, but their defense has done well to only give up two goals per game. Defensemen Brian Campbell and Dylan Olsen lead the team with two assists apiece through five games. Veteran goalie Roberto Luongo has a 1-2-1 record with a .905 save percentage and a 2.67 GAA.
On Saturday, the Avalanche gave up three second-period goals to the Montreal Canadiens and ended up losing 3-2 on the road. Their poor power play continued to struggle by going 0-for-4 in that loss.
The Avalanche are currently near the bottom of the league in both goals per game (1.5) and goals against per game (3.3). Their best offensive player has been center Matt Duchene, who has two goals and an assist through six games. Goaltender Reto Berra has a 1-0-0 record with a 0.73 GAA and a .974 save percentage in three appearances for Colorado.
