Tuesday night, the Florida Panthers will take the ice at the TD Garden as they face the Boston Bruins. 

The Florida Panthers will come into this game after a gritty 2 -1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night.  It was Florida’s 3rd win in 4 games.  The Panthers opened the scoring at 9:07 into the 1st period thanks to a Willie Mitchell goal.  The Panthers held that one goal lead through the rest of the 1st and all of the 2nd.  Then late in the 3rd, Florida added their second goal to go up 2 – 0.  Although the Flyers picked up a goal late, the Panthers managed to hold on for the win.  Florida’s penalty killing unit stifled Philadelphia on all 6 of their power play opportunities.  The Panthers will need the same effort from the special teams if they want a chance to beat the Bruins.

The Boston Bruins also picked up their 3rd win in 4 games after beating the Ottawa Senators 4 -2 on Saturday night.  Boston hit the back of the net first late in the 1st period but the lead held less than a minute as Ottawa tied it up to end the period.  The tie lasted until midway through the 2nd when Boston’s Matt Fraser broke the tie with a goal at 11:14.  Fraser lit the lamp again just a minute and 28 seconds later to put Boston up 3 – 1.  Dennis Seidenberg scored in the beginning of the 2nd to make it a 4 – 1 Boston lead.  Ottawa scored late but it didn’t matter.    The Bruins looked very sharp in the win and if they can play like that on Tuesday, they should get past the Senators.
