Thursday night, the Edmonton Oilers will travel to the Bridgestone Arena to face the Nashville Predators.

The Edmonton Oilers made their first stop on a 3 game road trip in Dallas on Tuesday night and they ended up with another loss as they fell to the Stars 3 – 2.  Dallas scored the first goal of the night midway through the 1st period to take the early lead but Edmonton’s Boyd Gordon got a shorthanded goal to close out the period and tie things up at 1 – 1.  But in the 2nd period, Tyler Seguin netted back to back goals to put Dallas up 3 – 1.  Edmonton almost got back in it thanks to an early 3rd period goal by Taylor Hall that made it a 3 -2 game but the Oilers couldn’t get anything else.  Edmonton shut down Dallas on all 4 of their power plays but they didn’t take advantage of their 37 -34 shots on goal advantage.  Edmonton hasn’t won a game in nearly a month and the prospects look slim for a win over Nashville.

The Nashville Predators picked up a 4 -3 shootout win over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night.  Nashville’s Craig Smith opened the scoring with a goal early in the 1st period but the Kings matched that goal to make it a 1 -1 game going into the 2nd.  Early into the 2nd, the Kings took the lead but Nashville responded with goals by Ryan Ellis and Eric Nystrom to take a 3 – 2 lead.  Los Angeles got the tying goal less than a minute into the 3rd and the game stayed tied the rest of regulation and all of the overtime period.  It would take a goal by James Neal in the shootout to get the win.  Nashville is still struggling on the power play (0 for 4 in this game) but might have a chance against the Oilers to score when they have the advantage.
