On Tuesday, the Edmonton Oilers and their top-rated power play unit will go on the road to play the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings were able to sweep the Oilers in their four-game season-series last year.
On Saturday, the Oilers gave up a game-tying third period goal to the Vancouver Canucks and ended up losing 5-4 in the shootout. Edmonton was outshot 43-29 in that loss and their seven penalties resulted in two Vancouver goals.
The Oilers have been able to convert 50 percent of their power plays so far, but they have also given up 4.5 goals per game. Right wing Teddy Purcell has a goal and two assists through Edmonton's first two games, while David Perron leads the team with three assists. Goalie Ben Scrivens has an .808 save percentage in one start, and Viktor Fasth had a .907 save percentage in his start.
On Sunday, the Kings were able to pick up their first win of the season by the beating Winnipeg Jets 4-1 at home. Defenseman Drew Doughty had two assists in the win while left wing Tanner Pearson had a goal and an assist.
The Kings are only scoring two goals per game through three games and they have yet to score on the power play. In two game appearances, backup netminder Martin Jones has a .970 save percentage and a 0.75 GAA.
