The Edmonton Oilers will be hoping to end their long losing streak when they take on the Calgary Flames on Saturday. The Oilers opened up their season against the Flames this year, losing 5-2 on home ice.

The Oilers' struggles continued on Tuesday night when the Arizona Coyotes came into town and beat them 5-1. Their power play was very poor in that loss, failing to score despite having six chances with the extra man.

The Oilers have had one of the worst scoring teams in the NHL this season, averaging just 2.1 goals per game. Netminder Ben Scrivens has only been able to win five games this season and now has a 3.23 GAA and an .890 save percentage. Left wing Taylor Hall has a team-high 10 goals and is second n the team with 21 points.

The Flames were finally able to end their long losing streak on Monday night when they beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-3 in overtime. Left wing Johnny Gaudreau was their best player in that win, scoring three out of their four goals.

Through 36 games this season, the Flames are in the top 10 in power play percentage by scoring on 19.7 percent of their chances with the extra man. Mark Giordano has been one of the better two-way defensemen in the league by notching 10 goals and 24 assists.
