Thursday night, the Edmonton Oilers will journey to the TD Garden to take on the Boston Bruins.

The Edmonton Oilers didn’t start out their Tuesday night game well and they ended up taking a 4 – 1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.  Edmonton spotted Philadelphia a two goal lead in the 1st period and that lead became too much for the Oilers to overcome.   Early in the 2nd, the Flyers extended the lead to 3 – 0 before the Oilers could respond.   Edmonton cut the lead to 3 -1 after a Ryan Nugent-Hopkins goal.  The Flyers added a 4th goal in 2nd to regain their 3 goal lead.  Edmonton outshot the Flyers 36 to 25 but they went 0 for 4 on the power play.  Numbers like that won’t help them if they want to take a win in Boston.

The Boston Bruins had to work hard Tuesday night in their matchup against the Florida Panthers and they came away with a 2 -1 overtime win.  Neither Boston nor Florida found a way to light the lamp in the 1st period.  Florida got to the back of the net first in the 2nd but Boston quickly answered to tie it up.   The teams played to another draw in the 3rd and the game went to overtime where Brad Marchand got the game winner at 3:27 in. Even without defenseman Zdeno Chara, the Bruins defense has held up surprisingly well and they will look to clamp down on the Oilers when they meet Thursday night.
