The Detroit Red Wings will be taking on the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday in a game that will feature two of the best penalty kills in the NHL. Last season, the Jets were able to win both of their games against the Red Wings.

On Tuesday night, the Red Wings played one of their best all-around games of the season when they shut out the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-0 on the road. They scored two power play goals in that win, and they were able to outshoot the Blue Jackets 40-28.

Through 18 games, the Red Wings have only given up 2.2 goals per game to their opponents. Their top offensive player has been veteran left wing Henrik Zetterberg, who has four goals and a team-high 13 assists so far this season. Defenseman has had a pretty good start to the year by accumulating three goals and nine assists for Detroit.

The Jets were able to snap their two-game losing streak on Tuesday when they beat the New Jersey Devils 3-1 at home. They scored on two out of their four power play chances, and they finished that game with a 34-22 shot advantage.

The Jets have struggled to score this season, averaging just 1.9 goals per game. Through 20 games, right wing Blake Wheeler has eight goals, five assists and a plus/minus of +1 for Winnipeg. Starting goaltender Ondrej Pavelec is 7-6-2 through 17 starts with a shutout and a solid .923 save percentage.
