Saturday night, the Detroit Red Wings will travel to the Air Canada Centre as they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Detroit Red Wings will come in seeking their 3rd win in a row after beating the Winnipeg Jets 4 -3 on Thursday night.  Detroit and Winnipeg played a scoreless 1st period but they made up for it in the 2nd period.  Winnipeg scored twice to open the period to take s 2 - 0 lead but Detroit quickly answered.  With goals by Tomas Tatar and Johan Franzen in the span of 3 minutes made it a tie game.  Winnipeg regained the lead with a goal to close out the period.  Detroit completed the rally by adding 2 goals in the 3rd period.  Winnipeg outshot Detroit 31 – 27 but Detroit had a 14 – 9 shots advantage in the 3rd and that’s what made the difference.  Toronto will be the last stop on a 3 game road trip for Detroit and they will look to keep it perfect.

The Toronto Maple Leafs turned on the scoring in their Thursday night game against the Tampa Bay Lightning and they came away with a 5 -2 win for their efforts.   David Clarkson scored in the 1st 2 minutes of the game to give Toronto the lead but Tampa Bay matched that goal to end the period and make it a 1 – 1 game.  Toronto broke the game wide open in the 2nd with a Richard Panik goal and back to back goals by James van Riemsdyk to make it 4 -1 going into the final period.  The Lightning closed the gap with a late goal but the Leafs added one more to put a cap on the win.  The win broke a 3 game losing streak for Toronto and the Leafs will look to start a new streak by beating the Red Wings.
