On Tuesday night, the Detroit Red Wings will try to snap their three-game road losing streak when they play the Columbus Blue Jackets. Last season, Columbus beat the Reds Wings in two out of their three games against each other.

On Sunday night, the Red Wings were just 1-for-6 on the power play in their game against the Montreal Canadiens and ended up losing 4-1 at home. They lost that game despite outshooting the Canadiens 29-19 and outhitting them 25-16.

The Red Wings have only given up 2.3 goals per game this season and they have killed off 88.5 percent of the power plays that they have faced. Veteran defenseman Niklas Kronwall has notched three goals and nine assists through 17 games. Goalie Jimmy Howard has a 7-3-4 record with a 2.11 GAA and a .919 save percentage.

In their last game, the Blue Jackets won their second straight game by defeating the San Jose Sharks 2-1 on home ice. Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was the first star in that win by saving 26 of the 37 shots that he faced.

Through 17 games, the Blue Jackets have had one of the worst defense in the league by giving up 3.5 goals per game. Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has gotten the majority of the starts and is 5-4-0 with a .917 save percentage. Their best offensive player has been center Ryan Johansen, who has six goals and 14 assists.
