Thursday night, the Dallas Stars will travel to the Steel City to take on the Pittsburgh Penguins.   Dallas will try to deal the Penguins their first loss of the season.

The Dallas Stars picked up their first win of the season after beating the Columbus Blue Jackets 4 – 2 on Tuesday night.  The Stars didn’t make getting their first victory an easy feat though.  Dallas took an early 2 -0 lead in the 1st period but Columbus didn’t let the lead stand.  They scored 2 goals in the 2nd period to tie it up at 2 – 2 going into the 3rd. In the 3rd, Dallas’ Tyler Segiun added 2 more goals to complete the hat trick and seal the win.  The Stars might need another hat trick to get past the Penguins.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will come into this one well rested and one of the highest scoring teams in the NHL.  They last played on Saturday when they lit up the Toronto Maple Leafs 5 – 2.  So far this season, the undefeated Pens are averaging 5.5 goals in their 2 games and they are making the power play pay dividends for them.   Their defense hasn’t been that bad either.  All things considered, the Penguins will be a tough matchup for the Stars even if Dallas brings their best game.  And so far this season, the Stars haven’t been playing up to their potential.
