On Thursday night, the struggling Dallas Stars will go on the road to face the defending Stanley Cup champ Los Angeles Kings.

Earlier this month, the Kings were able to defeat the Stars 3-1 on their home ice. The teams were a combined 0-for-9 on the power play in that matchup, but the Kings were the more physical team by outhitting the Stars 27-13.

Kings center Jeff Carter has scored seven goals and accumulated 13 points in his 19 games against the Stars, while defenseman Drew Doughty has 15 points and a plus/minus of +5 in 30 games against them. Goaltender Jonathan Quick is 16-6-2 against Dallas with two shutouts and a .918 save percentage.

The Stars scored two goals in the third period against the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday and came back to beat them 4-3. Their penalty kill was excellent in that win by keeping the Coyotes off of the scoreboard on their six power play chances.

Through 15 games, Dallas is near the bottom of the league in goals against by giving up 3.5 goals per game. Center Tyler Seguin, who had two goals in that win over the Coyotes, leads the team in goals with 12, while veteran Jason Spezza has been able to tally a team-high 12 assists. Goalie Kari Lehtonen is now 5-3-4 in his 12 starts with a .906 save percentage and a .295 GAA.
