Tuesday night, the Columbus Blue Jackets will visit the Washington Capitals.

The Columbus Blue Jackets took yet another loss Saturday night as they fell 7 – 4 to the Tampa Bay Lightning.  Things started horribly for the Blue Jackets and they never really recovered.  Columbus gave up four 1st period goals and that would prove to be too much to come back from. Although the Blue Jackets got 2 goals from Scottie Hartnell in the 2nd, the Lightning added 2 more to make it a 6 -2 game going into the 3rd.  Two early Columbus goals in the 3rd cut the lead to 6 – 4 but Tampa Bay added one last goal to seal the win.  Columbus went 3 for 5 on the power play but that wasn’t enough to keep them from their 8th straight defeat.  And a 9th straight loss could come with a trip to the Nation’s Capital.

The Washington Capitals will come into this one after getting a 4 - 3 overtime victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night.  The Capitals blew a lead early on and were lucky to come away with the win in this one.  Washington jumped out to a 2 -0 lead in the 1st but Carolina cut it to 2 – 1at the close of the period.  Washington scored the only goal of the 2nd period to regain the 2 goal advantage but Carolina would come roaring back in the 3rd.  With 2 late goals, the Hurricane sent the game to overtime.  At 4:46 into overtime, Nicklas Backstrom netted the game winner to avoid an epic collapse.  Although the Capitals can’t afford another collapse, they probably won’t face much opposition from the Blue Jackets.
