On Wednesday night, the Columbus Blue Jackets lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in game 1 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. The Blue Jackets will look to avoid a 2-0 hole before traveling home for game 3 of the series when they take on the Penguins at the Consol Energy Center.

The Blue Jackets finished 16 points behind the Penguins in the Metropolitan Division with a 43-32-7 record. They were lead throughout the season by Ryan Johansen, who led the team in points with 63 and goals with 33. Leading the way for the team in assists was James Wisniewski, who recorded 44. In game 1 of the series, Columbus was led by Jack Johnson, who scored a goal and added an assist in the losing effort.

Pittsburgh is one of the most popular teams in the National Hockey League and will look to continue their winning ways in this game. They won their division with 109 points after going 51-24-7 and were led by all-world center Sidney Crosby. He led the team in points with 104, leading the way in goals (36) and assists (68). Marc Andre Fleury played well throughout the season and will look to keep as many pucks out of the net throughout the playoffs. In game 1, Paul Martin came through with 2 assists as Matt Niskanen, Beau Bennett, Brandon Sutter and Jussi Jokinen all added goals.
