Saturday night, the Columbus Blue Jackets will visit the Prudential Center to take on the New Jersey Devils.

The Columbus Blue Jackets will enter the Prudential Center after having played a Friday night game at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Back to backs games always test a team’s mental and physical stamina as well as their fortitude.  Having to leave home to play a game on the road doesn’t help, especially for a banged up team like the Blue Jackets.  And while Columbus has struggled overall this season, they have lost more on the road than they have at home. That might be in the back of their minds as they take on the Devils.  The Devils will certainly try to extend the Blue Jackets’ road woes.

The New Jersey Devils grinded out a 2 -1 shootout win over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night.  The Jets took the 1 – 0 lead early in the 1st and that’s where the score stayed for the rest of the 1st, all of the 2nd and for most of the 3rd.  But at 16:33 in the 3rd, Michael Ryder scored the tying goal for the Devils.  That sent the game to overtime and after that, a shootout.  In the shootout, New Jersey’s Jacob Josefson scored the game winner.  It was the first home win of the year for the Devils but New Jersey made it harder than it had to be.  They won the face-offs battle and outshot the Jets but Winnipeg put up a good fight.  Columbus shouldn’t put up that much resistance but the Devils shouldn’t take them too lightly.
