The Columbus Blue Jackets were able to score two goals in all three periods the last time they played the Florida Panthers on their way to a 6-3 victory. Columbus out-shot the Panthers 37-20 in the game and also ended up outhitting them 37-26 for the all-around dominating win.

R.J. Umberger got the scoring started for the Blue Jackets when he scored a power-play goal at the 7:42 mark of the first period. Less than four minutes later, Cam Atkinson was able to double Columbus' lead with a power-play tally of his own. Shawn Matthias would get Florida their first goal later in the period with an unassisted effort.

Seven minutes into the second period, Florida would tie the game through a Nick Bjugstad goal, but the Blue Jackets would quickly answer through a David Savard power-play goal. Florida would tie it up again thanks to Sean Bergenheim's 14th goal of the season, but Columbus' Artem Anisimov scored a shorthanded goal with just 10 seconds left in the period to go into the third up 4-3.

The Blue Jackets would get the only two goals of the third period to put the Panthers away for good. Nick Foligno scored his 16th of the season on an empty-net tally with just over a minute left in the game, then Matt Calvert made it 6-3 30 seconds later with an empty-net goal of his own.

Sergei Bobrovsky had 17 saves Columbus, while Florida netminder Scott Clemmensen had 31 saves in the loss.
