The Carolina Hurricanes were able to pull off the 3-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets the last time these two teams faced off thanks in large part to Anton Khudobin's play in net. The Blue Jackets were able to get 47 shots on goal in the game, but Khudobin stopped 46 of them to get the win for the Hurricanes.

Nathan Gerbe was the first Hurricane to find the back of the net in the game, scoring his 15th of the season three minutes into the contest. Andrei Loktionov doubled Carolina's lead with a power-play goal two minutes into the second period. Patrick Dwyer would get his seventh on the campaign later in the period to give to the Hurricanes a 3-0 lead. Boone Jenner got the lone goal of the third period with the only shot to beat Khudobin, but it was too little too late for Columbus.

Both Loktionov and Dwyer finished the game with a goal and an assist apiece, but everyone knew who the real MVP of this one was. Khudobin's 46 saves were the most for any Hurricanes goalie this season and the performance was even more important to the team on a night where they only attempted 20 shots on the other net.

Sergei Bobrovsky started the game in goal for the Blue Jackets, but he was replaced by Curtis McElhinney after giving up three goals.
