On Sunday afternoon, the Colorado Avalanche will be visiting the Winnipeg Jets in an early Central Division matchup. Colorado beat the Jets in three of their five games against each other last season.
The Avalanche were able to put together their best offensive performance of the season so far when they beat the Vancouver Canucks 7-3 on Friday night. They had 48 shots on goal in that win and veteran Jarome Iginla scored his first two goals of the season.
Colorado has struggled a bit this season, but they are in the top 10 in the league in penalty kill percentage. Iginla has five assists for the Avalanche and now leads the team in points with seven. Center Matt Duchene has three goals on the season and has a plus/minus of +1, while defenseman Tyson Barrie is tied for the team lead in assists with five.
On Friday night, the Jets gave up three second-period goals to the Tampa Bay Lightning and lost 4-2 on home ice. They lost despite outshooting the Lightning 42-27 on the night and outhitting them 29-14.
Jets defenseman Toby Enstrom currently leads the team in assists with six, but he has a plus/minus of -1. Center Bryan Little is the team leader in goals with four and he has five points through seven games. Goalie Ondrej Pavelec has a 2-4-0 record following that loss to the Lightning, and he now has an .899 save percentage.
