Thursday night, the Colorado Avalanche will make their way to the Canadian Tire Centre to face the Ottawa Senators.

The Colorado Avalanche will try to look past their 3 - 2 overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night.  In that game, the Avalanche fell behind 1 -0 early on, but they tied it up in the 1st period and took a 2 -1 lead in the 2nd.  By the 3rd period, the momentum had disappeared for Colorado and Toronto took advantage.  Toronto tied it up in the 3rd and ended the game early in the overtime period.  Colorado will need to avoid the penalties and the breakdown in the 3rd period that they suffered through in this game if they want to have any success in their next one. 

The Ottawa Senators will be rested and coming off a victory in their last game.  On Monday night, the Senators blanked the Florida Panthers 1 - 0.  Ottawa imposed their defensive will on Florida early on and the game went scoreless through the 1st period of play.  It wasn’t until late in the 2nd period that anyone got on the board and that one goal that Ottawa’s Clarke MacArthur scored on the power play would be the only one scored on that night.  With a lead, Ottawa clamped down even more and Florida could respond.  If Ottawa imposes their will on a struggling Colorado team, it will be a long night for the Avalanche.
