Saturday night, the puck will drop at the Bell Centre as the Colorado Avalanche visit the Montreal Canadiens.

The Colorado Avalanche took the loss in their last game on Thursday night after blowing a huge lead. The Avalanche quickly opened up a 2 - 0 lead on the Ottawa Senators.  Despite an Ottawa goal, Colorado added a third goal and was still up 3 -1 at the end of the 1st period. Then things went downhill for the Avalanche.  They didn’t score another goal as Ottawa posted 4 unanswered in the final 2 periods to take a 5 -3 victory. Against a good team like the Canadiens, the Avalanche can’t afford a defensive breakdown like that.  If Colorado gives Montreal some good looks at the net, they will make the Avalanche pay.

The Montreal Canadiens will be coming off a solid 6 - 4 win over the Boston Bruins Thursday night. The Habs started slow against the Bruins and found themselves in a 3 - 2 hole midway through the 2nd period.  But Montreal woke up and scored 2 late goals to take a 4 – 3 lead at the end of the 2nd.  They added 2 goals to the Bruins one in the 3rd to come away with the win.  If Montreal can start strong against a Colorado team that suffered some defensive lapses late in their last game, another Canadiens’ win could be on the horizon.
