Sunday night, the Colorado Avalanche will close out a 3 game road trip with a stop at the Joe Louis Arena to take on the Detroit Red Wings.

The Colorado Avalanche will come into this one after a Saturday night game in Buffalo against the Buffalo Sabres. The Avalanche have struggled in recent weeks and having to play back to back road games won't do much to help them turn things in the right direction. But one thing that might play in Colorado's favor is the fact that the Red Wings are amidst a slump too. If Colorado can wake up their horrendous power play and find a way to get the puck in the net, they might be able to turn things around.

The Detroit Red Wings dropped their 5^th game in a row Friday night after losing 2 - 1 to the New York Islanders. Henrik Zetterberg gave the Red Wings the lead midway through the 1^st period with his 6^th goal of the season. But by the end of the period, the Islanders had tied things up. Another New York goal gave them a 2 - 1 lead in the 2^nd and they managed to maintain that lead the rest of the way. Detroit went 0 for 2 on the power play and had just 18 shots on goal compared to New York's 32. It's easy to say, but until Detroit plays a complete game on both ends of the ice, this slump will continue.
