On Monday afternoon, the Colorado Avalanche will go on the road to take on the Boston Bruins, who have lost two straight games. During the 2013-14 season, the Avs and the Bruins played two games against each other with each team picking up one win.

The Avalanche were shut out for the second game in a row when they were beaten 3-0 by the Minnesota Wild. The Avs missed on all 30 of their shots in that game and they also had 27 penalty minutes.

Colorado does have a perfect penalty kill percentage through two games, but they've also given up eight goals. All-Star goaltender Semyon Varlamov is 0-2-0 now and he has a .901 save percentage with a 4.32 GAA.

In their game against the Washington Capitals on Saturday, the Bruins were able to put plenty of shots on goal, but they ended up being shut out at home 4-0. Boston was 0-for-4 on their power play opportunities while the Caps were able to score on two of their chances with the extra man.

Bruins center Patrice Bergeron is tied for the team lead with two points after scoring a goal and assisting on another in the team's first three games. Carl Soderberg has two assists and a minus-2, while Zdeno Chara has yet to tally a point this season. Goaltender Tuukka Rask is now 1-2-0 with an .892 save percentage and a 2.36 GAA.
