The Chicago Blackhawks will look to continue their winning streak when they face the Washington Capitals in the Winter Classic on Thursday night. In their first meeting this season, the Capitals were able to defeat the Blackhawks 3-2 in Chicago.

On Monday night, the Blackhawks won their second game in a row when they beat the Nashville Predators 5-4 in the shootout. They scored on one of their five power play opportunities in that win and ended up with 42 shots on goal.

Through 37 games this season, the Blackhawks have the best goals against average in the league by giving up just 2.1 goals per game. Right wing Patrick Kane has 40 points so far this season by notching 18 goals and 22 assists. Goalie Corey Crawford is now 14-6-2 with one shutout and a .921 save percentage.

The Capitals didn't play very well in their game against the New York Islanders on Monday night, but they were able to pick up a point from the 4-3 overtime loss. They were badly outshot 39-26 in the game and they were goalless on their four power play chances.

So far this season, the Capitals have scored just under three goals per game and have scored on 22.9 percent of their power play opportunities. Left wing Alex Ovechkin leads the team with 17 goals this year and is second in points with 30.
