On Thursday night, the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues played one of the best games of the 2013-14 National Hockey League season. It took 3 overtimes for the Blues to walk away with the win in game 1 of the Western Conference quarterfinals, 4-3. Game 2 will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
The Blues have been led all season by left wing Alexander Steen, who scored 62 points during the regular season, leading the team. Of those points, 33 were goals, while Alex Pietrangelo led the team with 43 assists. Between the offensive support from Steen and Pietrangelo, the Blues finished the regular season with a 52-23-7 record, finishing in second place in the Central Division, 1 point behind the Colorado Avalanche.
The Blackhawks went 46-21-15 during the regular season and finished in 3rd place behind the Avalanche and Blues in the Central Division. The team will look to rebound from the heartbreaker in game 1 and will be led into this game on Saturday afternoon by their leading scorer Patrick Sharp, who had 78 points including 34 goals. Duncan Keith added 55 assists to lead the team in the regular season. Brent Seabrook had a goal and an assist in the opener and will be relied upon in game 2.
