It took them a while to do it, but the Chicago Blackhawks were able to extend their Western Conference Finals series with the Los Angeles Kings by beating them 5-4 in 2 overtimes. The Kings, who couldn't convert any of their three power play chances in the game, now have a 3-2 lead in the series.

The Blackhawks got off to a great start in the game by getting a power-play goal from Brent Seabrook and another tally from Johnny Oduya inside the first four minutes of the first period. Jarret Stoll was able to get one back for the Kings midway through the period, but Brandon Saad answered that goal with one of his own a minute and a half later. Marian Gaborik scored the last goal of the opening period with his 11th of the playoffs.

The Kings were able to take the 4-3 lead in the second period when Dustin Brown and Tanner Pearson each scored for the visitors. The goal that eventually sent the game into overtime was scored by the Blackhawks' Ben Smith, who scored off of assists by Saad and Oduya.

After no goals were scored in the first extra period, Michal Handzus scored the series-extending goal two minutes into the second overtime.

Patrick Kane had four assists for the Blackhawks in the win, while goaltender Corey Crawford saved 40 of the Kings' 44 shots on goal.
