The Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Red Wings will face each other on Friday night in a game that will feature two of the best penalty kills in the NHL. The Blackhawks and the Red Wings played each other twice last year, with both teams picking up one win.

On Tuesday, the Blackhawks won their second straight game when they beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 in the shootout. They were able to win that game despite not scoring on any of their six power play opportunities.

The Blackhawks currently have the top penalty kill in the NHL by stopping 91.7 percent of opponents' power play chances. Goalie Corey Crawford has a 6-3-1 record this season with a very solid .931 save percentage. Their top offensive player has been center Jonathan Toews, who has six goals and seven assists through 16 games.

Detroit lost for the third time in their last four games on Sunday when they were beaten by the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3 in the shootout. They did outshoot the Lightning 30-20 in that loss, but they also allowed them to convert two of their four power play chances.

Despite their poor performance against the Lightning, the Red Wings' penalty kill is one of the best in the league by stopping 88.7 percent of opposing power plays. Veteran Henrik Zetterberg has been their best offensive player by accumulating four goals and 12 assists in 15 games.
