On Saturday night, the Chicago Blackhawks will attempt to win their third straight game when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets. During the 2013-14 season, the Blackhawks were able to sweep their two-game regular season series against the Blue Jackets.

The Blackhawks' hot December continued on Tuesday night when they defeated the Minnesota Wild 5-3 on home ice. They were 1-for-3 on the power play in that win and ended up outshooting the Wild 39-29.

The Blackhawks have been able to score three goals per game this year while only allowing their opponents to score two goals per game against them. Their top offensive player has been All-Star Patrick Kane, who has 15 goals and 17 assists through his team's first 32 games. Netminder Corey Crawford now has a 12-5-1 record on the season with a 1.87 GAA and a .929 save percentage.

On Thursday night, the Blue Jackets had their seven-game winning streak snapped when the Washington Capitals beat them 5-4 in overtime. They were 2-for-4 on the power play in that game, but they only ended up with 26 shots on goal.

Through 31 games, the Blue Jackets have one of the better power plays in the NHL, but they are in the bottom half of the league in scoring and goals against. Left wing Nick Foligno currently leads the team in points with 30 by notching 16 goals and 14 assists.
