In a game between two Stanley Cup hopefuls, the Chicago Blackhawks were able to beat the Boston Bruins 3-2 the last time these two squared off in a mid-January game. The game was tight throughout and took a slick shootout goal from Blackhawks star Patrick Kane to seal the win for the hosts.

Marian Hossa got the first goal of the game, scoring his 20th of the season off of a nice pass from teammate Patrick Sharp. The Bruins were able to answer late in the period when Brad Marchand scored with less than 20 seconds left. Marchand got his second goal of the night when he faked Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford to one side and then put the go-ahead goal between his legs. The final regulation goal came from Brandon Bollig midway through the second.

In the shootout, Jonathan Toews was able to get his shot past Tuukka Rask after Ryan Spooner missed his attempt on the other end. After misses by Patrice Bergeron and Sharp, Marchand was able to get the tying shootout goal, but Kane won it for Chicago after speeding up, then slowing down for a slick wrist shot to beat Rask.

Both Crawford and Rask had great games. Crawford was able to save 34 of the 36 shots he faced, while Rask handled 35 of 37 Blackhawks' shots he saw. Raask definitely had the save of the game when he made a stick save on Brandon Saad after a great pass by Kane.
