The last time the Carolina Hurricanes played the Winnipeg Jets you might have thought that the Hurricanes had a significant edge over the Jets because they came into the game playing the least amount of games in the whole league. But unfortunately for them they were not able to capitalize on that advantage.

Carolina took 32 faceoffs to the Jets 18, but they were dominated physically with the Jets landing 37 hits to Carolina's 18. Jets goalie, Ondrej Pavelec saved 28 shots to help his team to a 2-1 victory. With no scoring in the first and almost half-way through the second, the Jets opened things up 12:57 into the period with a goal by Andrew Ladd. The Jets' Michail Frolik got loose down the left wing and beat defensemen Justin Faulk before taking a shot that was stopped by goalie Anton Khudobin. But the puck bounced out in front of the net and Ladd swatted it back in and found the back of the net.

The next goal of the game came early in the third for Carolina by Riley Nash. Just about two minutes into the period, the Hurricanes skated into the zone and Drayson Bowman tried to handle the puck in the slot. He was unsuccessful but he did manage to get the puck over to Nash, who was able to slip it in for a tying goal. With the game all tied up, the Jets got a good look with 1:03 remaining and took advantage. Chris Thorburn got the goal and the win for the Jets.
