The Carolina Hurricanes will be hoping that they can finally pick up their first win of the season when they go up against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night. Vancouver was able to beat the Hurricanes in both of their games against each other last season.

Last Friday, the Hurricanes gave up four third-period goals to the Edmonton Oilers on the road and ended up losing 6-3. Goaltender Anton Khudobin was only able to stop 23 of the 28 shots he faced in that loss.

The Hurricanes are currently 27th in scoring with two goals per game, and 29th in goals against with 3.9 goals given up per game. Their best offensive player has been left wing Jiri Tlusty, who has four goals and two assists so far this year. Veteran Alexander Semin has no goals and two assists through seven games, and he has a plus/minus of -6.

On Sunday night, the Canucks scored three third-period goals against the Washington Capitals and pulled off a 4-2 home win. They outshot the Capitals 34-22 in that game while going 2-for-5 on the power play.

Left wing Daniel Sedin has two goals and nine assists for the Canucks through eight games, while right wing Radim Vrbata has five goals and five assists. Veteran netminder Ryan Miller has a 5-1-0 record with a 2.58 GAA and a .906 save percentage.
