On Wednesday night, the struggling offense of the Carolina Hurricanes will be facing the high-scoring Pittsburgh Penguins. These two teams have played each other two times this season, with both teams picking up an away win.

In their game against the Montreal Canadiens on Monday, the Hurricanes picked up their second straight loss by losing 3-1 at home. They lost that game despite going 1-for-2 on the power play and outshooting the Canadiens 29-19.

Carolina's offense has struggles pretty much all season and they are currently averaging just two goals per game. Center Eric Staal has been one of their better player this season, but even he has only been able to accumulate 20 points.

The Penguins are now on a season-long four-game losing streak being defeated 3-1 by the New Jersey Devils on Monday night. Their normally solid power play didn't show up in that loss, going 0-for-3 with the extra man.

Through 36 games this year, the Penguins are in the top 10 in the league in scoring, goals against and penalty kill percentage. Center Evgeni Malkin is playing at an All-Star level again this season by notching 16 goals and 25 assists. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury has been one of the best in the league this season by going 19-6-3 with six shutouts, a .927 save percentage and an excellent 2.16 GAA in 29 starts.
