The Carolina Hurricanes will be playing their final game of their five-game road trip when they take on the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday. During the 2013-14 season, the Penguins were able to win three out of their four games against the Hurricanes.

On Wednesday night, the Hurricanes lost their third game in a row when the Florida Panthers shut them out 1-0 on the road. Goalie Cam Ward was solid in the losing effort, stopping 27 of the 28 shots he faced.

Through 21 games, the Hurricanes are in the bottom five in the league in scoring with just over two goals per game. Center Riley Nash has a team-high 15 points and is one of only a few players on Carolina who doesn't have a negative plus/minus.

The Penguins won their second consecutive game on Wednesday night when they beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 in overtime. They scored on one of their three power play chances in that win and finished the game with a 41-27 faceoff advantage.

So far this season, the Penguins are near the top of the league in most statistical categories, including having the best power play percentage. Superstar center Sidney Crosby has scored nine goals this season with 22 assists. Center Evgeni Malkin has also had a great start to the year by notching 11 goals and 17 assists.
