Sunday night, the Carolina Hurricanes will wrap up a weekend home and home series with the New York Rangers.

The Carolina Hurricanes have been on the losing side of the scoreboard more times than they have been on the winning side in recent games. They have struggled to score more than a goal and their defense has been as porous as a vegetable strainer. When you add the fact that the Rangers have basically owned the Hurricanes in recent years, it all lines up in favor of a tough weekend for Carolina. If the Hurricanes can get their offense and defense working at the same time, they will have a shot against the Rangers. But if they keep playing like they have been recently, another loss to New York will happen.

The New York Rangers have been on a tear in recent weeks and there is a good chance that the Rangers can keep things rolling against the Hurricanes. The Rangers haven't faced much resistance from the Hurricanes in recent meetings and it appears likely that the trend will continue. New York has been lighting the lamp regularly in recent games and their defense has been there too. A complete game from the Rangers will make it easy for New York to continue their dominance over the Hurricanes. But if Carolina can wear down New York on Saturday, that could be the only thing to stop the Rangers.
