On Saturday night, the Carolina Hurricanes will go up against the New York Islanders in an early Metropolitan Division matchup. This will be the second game in two days that these two teams will play each other.

The Hurricanes beat the Islanders in three of their four meetings last season, but they only outscored them 12-10 in the season series. Carolina won the first three games and the Islanders picked up a 5-4 win over them later in the season. None of their games against each other were decided by more than one goal.

Hurricanes star center Eric Staal has scored 18 goals against the Islanders in his career and has 37 points in 38 games against them. In 12 games against the Isles, left wing Jeff Skinner has six goals with four assists and a plus-3. Goatender Anton Khudobin has gone up against the Islanders twice in his career and is 1-1 with a solid .937 save percentage.

The player on the Islanders who has had the most success against the Hurricanes is center John Tavares, who has 13 goals and nine assists against them in 18 career games. Offseason acquisition Mikhail Grabovski has six goals and four assists in 22 games against Carolina. Goalie Jaroslav Halak has just one win in six games against the Hurricanes, but he does have a solid .930 save percentage against them.
