The Carolina Hurricanes will be going up against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night in a game between two struggling offenses. Earlier this month, the Hurricanes defeated the Kings 3-2 on their home ice.

The Hurricanes were able to score four goals in the second period of their game against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday to help them pull off the 6-4 road win. Center Eric Staal was the first star in that win by finishing with two goals and an assist for Carolina.

Through 18 games, the Hurricanes have only been able to score 2.4 goals per game against their opponents. Netminder Cam Ward is 6-5-1 through 12 starts with a shutout and a 2.57 GAA. Defenseman Justin Faulk has been one of their better offensive players by notching two goals and 10 assists.

On Tuesday night, the Kings picked up their second win in a row when they beat the Florida Panthers 5-2 at home. They were great on the power play in that win, finishing 2-for-6 with the extra man.

The Kings have only scored 2.6 goals per game this season, but they have also been able to hold other teams to just 2.1 goals per game. Center Tyler Toffoli has had an impressive start to the season by scoring eight goals and providing 10 assists. Veteran goalie Jonathan Quick is now 9-3-4 with a solid .938 save percentage and a 2.06 GAA.
