Friday night, the Carolina Hurricanes will take the ice at the Rexall Place as they face the Edmonton Oilers.

The Carolina Hurricanes will be fresh off the plane from Calgary where they took on the Flames Thursday night.  For a team hit hard by the injury bug and playing poorly, back to back road games was the last thing that the Hurricanes needed.  Against any opponent, a team looks to put their best team out on the ice, but the Hurricanes might just be too tired to do that.  Ordinarily the Hurricanes could expect an Edmonton team that might not put up much of a fight but the Oilers will be coming off a big win and hungry for another.

The Edmonton Oilers battled back in their last game and ended up with a 3 -2 win over the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night.   The Oilers scored first on a Justin Schultz goal 6:53 into the 1st period but the Caps answered less than 4 minutes later to tie it up.  And Washington took a 2 -1 lead early in the 2nd period.  The Oilers closed out the 2nd period with 2 goals that gave them the lead once again. Edmonton was able to hold off Washington in the 3rd to seal the win.  Edmonton maximized their shots on goal (20) and went 1 for 2 on the power play.  If the Oilers play well on Friday, the Hurricanes might be even easier to get past.
