Tuesday night, the Carolina Hurricanes will take the ice at the PNC Arena as they take on the Columbus Blue Jackets. 

The Carolina Hurricanes will come in after beating the Los Angeles Kings 3 -2 on Sunday night.  The Hurricanes didn’t get the puck in the net until late in the 1st period when Victor Rask’s goal put them up 1 – 0.  Just 50 seconds into the 2nd, Chris Terry put Carolina up 2 – 0 on the defending Stanley Cup champs.  After Los Angeles cut the lead to 2 - 1, Carolina regained the 2 goal advantage going into the 3rd.  The Kings made it interesting with a goal in the final period but the Hurricanes held them off for the rest of regulation.  It was the 2nd straight win for Carolina and it could be the start of something good for the struggling team.   

The Columbus Blue Jackets had the lead in their Saturday night game against the New Jersey Devils but they gave it away late and fell 3 – 2.   Jack Skille put Columbus up 1 – 0 with his goal just 1:06 into the 1st and it took New Jersey all the way until the beginning of the 2nd to respond.  But Columbus scored midway through the 2nd and had a 2 – 1 lead going into the 3rd.  Unfortunately for the Blue Jackets, the lead didn’t hold.  The Devils scored twice in the 3rd to steal the victory.  Columbus won’t be able to end their slump until they find a way to increase their scoring and tighten up their defense.     Until those two things start happening, it will be tough for Columbus to get anything going.
