Saturday afternoon, the Carolina Hurricanes will take the ice at the TD Garden as they face the Boston Bruins.

The Carolina Hurricanes will come into this one after losing 3 – 1 to the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night. It was another slow start for the Hurricanes and that allowed the Jets to take advantage early on. Winnipeg took the 1-0 lead in the 1st period but the Hurricanes tied it up early in the 2nd on a power play goal by Elias Lindholm.  The Jets regained the lead late in the 2nd period and added an extra goal for insurance late in the 3rd.  Carolina was outshot 37 to 23 but they shutout the Jets on their 2 power play opportunities.   The Bruins have played well on the power play and the Hurricanes might not be able to shut them out when Boston gets the advantage.

The Boston Bruins didn’t look their best in their last outing and it showed in the final score as they lost 5 - 1 to the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night.  Boston got the early lead behind a Dougie Hamilton power play goal late in the 1st period. But that lead wouldn’t last long.  Early in the 2nd, the Canadiens got on the board and they just kept on scoring.  Between the 2nd and 3rd periods, Montreal posted 5 unanswered goals.  The loss was Boston’s second in consecutive nights.  If Boston can come out with some fire on Saturday afternoon, they might be too much for the Hurricanes to handle.
