Nobody is really sure what the second to last place Flames are playing for lately, but they've definitely showed some gusto as this putrid season winds down. Ottawa on the other hand, who is single digit points out of the playoff race, has seemingly checked out because they're playing some bad hockey down the stretch.

It's not as if Calgary is on a streak but a 5-5 record over the last 10 is respectable by 2013/14 Flames' standards. They've only been favored twice over that span and have posted wins over likely playoff teams San Jose, Dallas, and Anaheim. Sunday's game in Ottawa marks the start of a 5-game road span for Calgary but at 15 points out of the playoff push, their main intention for the remainder of the season is to play the spoiler.

Not many people actually gave Ottawa a chance to sneak into the playoffs, but they're eliminating all hope with recent poor play. The Senators have gone 2-7-1 in their last 10 and have won 3 total games since returning from Sochi. Goalie Craig Anderson may return this weekend from an undisclosed injury and the Senators could use him, posting a 1-6-1 record since Robin Lehner took over.

Calgary would love nothing more than to repeat the results of the last time they met the Senators on March 5th. As home underdogs the Flames were able to pounce on Ottawa 4-1, cashing out a +104 for their backers.
