Sunday night, the Calgary Flames will visit the Bell Centre to take on the Montreal Canadiens.
The Calgary Flames needed a late rally in their Friday night game to get past the Nashville Predators. In the end, the Flames snatched away a 4 – 3 win. Neither team managed to light the lamp in the 1st period but Calgary opened the scoring in the 2nd. But the lead didn’t last long as Nashville closed out the 2nd with 2 goals to go into the 3rd up 2 -1. That slim Nashville lead would quickly disappear in the 3rd. The Flames scored 3 goals in the span of 4 minutes to change the momentum in the game. A late Nashville goal wouldn’t be enough. Calgary will need that kind of offensive production as they face the Canadiens for the 2nd time in less than a week.
The Montreal Canadiens will be fairly rested coming into this game but still looking to recover from their Thursday night 3 -2 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks. The Canadiens and Canucks didn’t score in the 1st but they made up for it later in the game. Vancouver scored the only goal of the 2nd and with a goal to start the 3rd, they were up 2 – 0. But Montreal posted 2 goals to close out regulation and send the game to overtime. The Canucks took less than 3 minutes to score the game winner. The last game between the Canadiens and Flames was tight and the Canadiens won’t be able to afford a slow start Sunday night if they want to come away with another win over the Flames.
