The Calgary Flames will be going up against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night in a game between two teams trying to move up the Pacific Division standings. The Flames were able to win three out of their five games against the Kings last year.

The Flames lost their eighth game in a row on Saturday night when the Vancouver Canucks beat them 3-2 in overtime on the road. They were goalless on their three power play opportunities and were outshot 32-28.

So far this year, the Flames have one of the worst penalty killing units in the league by stopping right around 77 percent of opposing power plays. Netminder Jonas Hiller has had a good start to the season by going 9-10-2 with one shutouts and a .915 save percentage.

On Saturday night, the Kings scored two third-period goals to help them defeat the Arizona Coyotes 4-2 on home ice. Center Anze Kopitar was the top star in that win by providing an assist on three of his team's four goals.

Through 34 games, the Kings have one of the best defenses and goalie combinations in the league by allowing less than 2.5 goals per game. Goaltender Jonathan Quick has a 14-8-5 record so far this season with a 2.29 GAA and a .923 save percentage. Left wing Tanner Pearson has a team-high 10 goals this year.
