The Calgary Flames, who have been better on the road than at home this season, will visit the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night. Last year, the Flames were able to win their only two games against the Hurricanes.

On Saturday, the Flames scored three goals in the second and third periods against the Florida Panthers and came away with a 6-4 road victory. They made the most of their opportunities in that win, scoring six goals on just 25 shots.

The Flames are in the top 10 in the league in scoring by averaging three goals per game this season. Defenseman Mark Giordano has had a great start to the season by notching five goals and a team-high 13 assists in 16 games. Netminder Jonas Hiller has a 7-3-1 record with one shutout and a .931 save percentage.

The Hurricanes had their four-game winning streak snapped on Saturday night when they were beaten 4-3 in overtime by the Washington Capitals. They were 1-for-2 on the power play in that game, but they were also outshot 39-27.

Through 13 games, the Hurricanes have scored just 2.4 goals per game while giving up 3.2 goals per game. Left wing Jiri Tlusty leads the team in goals with six, while center Riley Nash has a team-high 10 points on the season. Goalie Cam Ward is 4-3-1 in eight starts and has an .894 save percentage with a 2.71 GAA.
