The Calgary Flames will be playing their first of two straight games against the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday. Earlier this month, the Flames were able to defeat the Coyotes 5-3 on their home ice.

On Wednesday night, the Flames picked up their second shutout of the season when they beat the San Jose Sharks 2-0 on the road. Netminder Karri Ramo was their best player in that game, stopping all 32 of the shots he faced.

Through their first 24 games, the Flames are in the top five in the league in scoring by averaging three goals per game. Starting goalie Jonas Hiller has won nine of his 16 games this season and has a .913 save percentage. Defenseman Mark Giordano has six goals for Calgary this year and leads all defensemen in assists with 18.

The Coyotes lost their second consecutive game on Tuesday night when the Colorado Avalanche beat them 4-3 in overtime. Arizona only had one chance on the power play in that loss and were outshot 35-33.

So far this season, the Coyotes have only been able to score 2.4 goals per game while giving up three goals per game. Center Antoine Vermette has six goals through 23 games and is tied for the team lead in points with 16. Netminder Mike Smith has a 4-11-2 record so far this season with a 3.26 GAA and an .898 save percentage.
