The last time the Buffalo Sabres played the Nashville Predators, the Sabres learned that it's not always a good thing to be the first to score, as they lost 4-1. After giving up the first goal of the game just two minutes into the contest, the Predators were able to dominate from there on out by scoring four consecutive goals.

Drew Stafford, playing in his 500th career game, was the guy who got the Sabres that early goal on a power-play strike early in the first period. This was a big goal for Buffalo as they hadn’t scored with the extra man in their previous 11 attempts.

About 15 minutes later Nick Spaling was able to get one back for the Preds with a power-play goal of his own. Shea Weber doubled the visitors' lead just three minutes into the second period with his 16th of the season. Craig Smith made it 3-1 a few minutes later with a slap shot that got through Buffalo goalie Jhonas Enroth's legs. Gaustad, who earlier in the game served 12 minutes worth of penalties, put the game away in the third period with his 9th goal of the season.

Weber and Smith had a goal and an assist in the win for the away side, while Carter Hutton saved 24 of the 25 shots attempted by the Predators. Enroth finished the game with 20 saves.
