Saturday night, the Buffalo Sabres will conclude a home and home series with the Montreal Canadiens as the travel to the Bell Centre.  

The Buffalo Sabres were already having a tough time of it and the recent winter storm that hit the Buffalo area didn’t help.  And a home and home against the Canadiens probably won’t do much for the Sabres’ fortunes.  Although the Sabres have had some wins in recent games, they lost more than they have won overall.  It just might take a larger effort than the Sabres are capable of to go into Montreal and beat one of the best teams in hockey.  It’s not impossible if the Sabres play like they have recently.  But if they play like they have for most of this season so far, this game won’t be pretty for the Buffalo faithful.

The Montreal Canadiens probably have nothing to fear from the Buffalo Sabres.  After all, the Canadiens are one of the best teams in the NHL and they should have no problem dealing with one of the NHL’s worst.  And if you throw in the fact that the Canadiens will be on their home ice with their crowd behind them, a win is almost a certainty.  Of course, anything can happen in 3 periods of hockey.  If the Canadiens are fatigued or they get a few unlucky bounces, something unexpected could happen.   More than likely, the Canadiens will be looking towards their upcoming 4 game road trip that will start after this one.  And the Sabres might just end up being target practice for the Canadiens.
