The Buffalo Sabres and the Minnesota Wild will both be looking to get more from their power play units when they face each other on Thursday night. Last season, the Wild were able to defeat the Sabres in both of their games against each other.

The Sabres' defensive struggles continued on Tuesday when they were blown out 6-1 by the St. Louis Blues on the road. They had nine penalties in that loss and allowed the Blues to score on three of their eight power play chances.

Buffalo has only been able to score 1.1 goals per game this season while giving up 3.5 goals per game. Right wing Drew Stafford leads the team with nine points through 17 games, but even he has a plus/minus of -10. Goalie Jhonas Enroth is just 1-7-1 this year with a .901 save percentage and a 3.63 GAA.

On Tuesday night, the Wild lost their third straight game when they were beaten 3-1 by the New Jersey Devils on the road. They had just 23 shots on goal in that game and they were 0-for-4 on the power play.

The Wild currently have the worst power play percentage in the NHL by scoring just 4.5 percent of the time when they have the extra man. Their best player has been left wing Zach Parise, who has four goals and six assists.
