BB&T Center, Sunrise, Florida
Even though Buffalo sits in last place in the Atlantic, well out of the playoff picture, they proved they weren't just going to lay down and die the rest of the season after winning 3 straight out of the Olympic break. Dallas broke that streak Monday night but it's evident that the Sabres are intent on playing with pride the last 20-plus games of the season.
Friday's night's matchup between the Sabres and Panthers at Florida's BB&T Center isn't exactly a high ratings game on paper but it is a game bettors can take advantage of. In their previous meeting Florida was able to squeak out a high-scoring 4-3 victory on the road in Buffalo. Over bettors were happy as the two bottom feeders of the Atlantic combined for 5 goals in the first period, good enough to at least push the total. It took almost 16 minutes into the 2nd period but a goal by Florida's Nick Bjugstad finally cashed in the over.
Friday night's game marks the fourth matchup of the year for the Sabres and Panthers. Buffalo has won 2 of the first 3 in the series in low scoring affairs. The Sabres were able to squeak out a 2-1 victory on January 9th in Buffalo and another 3-1 win in Florida back at the end of October. The two teams don't have a lot to play for with Florida out of the last spot in the playoffs by about 15 points and Buffalo a whopping 24 behind Detroit.
The Sabres have won only 6 games away from home (6-18-1-2) but the Panthers haven't done much better in the comfort of their own home (11-13-1-3).
