Wednesday night, the Buffalo Sabres will take on the Anaheim Ducks.

The Buffalo Sabres will be looking to erase the memory of the 4 – 0 drubbing that they took at the hands of the Boston Bruins on Saturday night.  It was the 2nd straight shutout for the Sabres and if they were looking for a reason, they needed to look no further than their futility on the power play.  Buffalo went 0 for 7 on the power play and that dropped them to 0 for 18 this season when they have the advantage.  But, then again, the Sabres are barely scoring when they aren’t on the power play.  And against a tough team like the Ducks, the back of the net might become unchartered territory for the Sabres.

The Anaheim Ducks opened the season with a loss but they haven’t tasted defeat since then.  The Ducks won their 5th straight game on Sunday night as they took 3 – 0 victory over the St. Louis Blues.  The Ducks took the lead less than 2 minutes into the game and never looked back. With another goal in the 1st and one in the 2nd, they were up comfortably headed into the final period and need not additional scoring to get the win.  Anaheim was positively lethal against the Blues as they dominated on the face-offs (38 -23) and went 2 for 3 on the power play.  Against a Sabres team that is struggling, the Ducks will look to add to their win streak.
