The Boston Bruins had perhaps their easiest win of the season the last time they saw the Washington Capitals in a game where they cruised to a 3-0 win. The Caps could only muster a total of 16 shots on goal and didn't look like a team fighting to get one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.

After no goals were scored in the first period, despite many attempts by Boston, the Bruins were able to get on the board early in the second period thanks to Gregory Campbell's 7th goal of the season. Loui Eriksson was able to get his 7th goal five minutes later and Brad Marchand tacked on the insurance goal late in the third period.

Braden Holtby was pretty much the only Capital who could hold his head up high after the loss. His defense was all over the place all night, forcing him to save 40 shots en route to a .952 save percentage. This was the first time that Holtby lost to the Bruins in his career after beating them the first four times he played against Boston.

Tuukka Rask didn't have too much work to do in this game, but he was able to save all 16 of Washington's shots. It was Rask's sixth shutout of the season and the 22nd career shutout in his career.
