Saturday night, the Boston Bruins will visit the Air Canada Center as they face the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Boston Bruins had a rough game their last time out on Thursday night. They lost 3 - 2 to the New York Islanders and they lost captain Zdeno Chara to a knee injury. The game was a 1 – 1 tie after the 1st period but the loss of Chara in the 1st showed in the 2nd for the Bruins. Without the towering defenseman on the ice, New York scored twice to go up 3 -1. Boston managed to add a goal mid way through the 3rd period but it was just too little too late. If the estimates of a 4 to 6 week absence for Chara are correct, the Bruins will have to find a way to replace a huge part of their defense.
The Toronto Maple Leafs will come into this game a little rested and a little shake too. Their Wednesday night game in Ottawa was postponed after the shootings that took place in the Canadian capital earlier in the day. The Leafs were staying in a hotel right near one of the shooting locations and were kept there until they were allowed to return to Toronto. Although no one on the team witnessed the shooting, they did see the response afterward and that will certainly be on their minds. Once Toronto refocuses on the task of playing the weakened Bruins, they will realize that they have a decent chance of coming away with a win.
